ST CUTHBERT'S WAY SCTW 62 MILES          B
This is a journey through the life and times of St Cuthbert, a week long walk through the varied scenery of the Scottish borders and the northern tip of England.  We start as St Cuthbert did at Melrose Abbey from where we head southeast topass Dryburgh Abbey on the banks of the river Tweed, from here the path follows the Roman Dere Street to cross the river Teviot close to Jedburgh Abbey, passing Cessford Castle our next stop is Kirk Yetholm nestling at the foot of the Cheviot Hills, the end or start of the Pennine Way.  The wilder part of the walk takes us over the Cheviots to the market town of Wooler, from here we turn north east and head towards the coast with a visit to St Cuthbert's cave on the way, from the cave we descend to the sea to cross onto Lindisfarne, his final resting place with the ruined Abbey and a castle on the hill.
