The Thames Experience

A journey along the river Thames, between Oxford and Hampton Court, is a fascinating tour through time where you can experience some of the finest river scenes in the country, from the quiet of the northern reaches to the hustle and bustle of the London suburbs. This section of river is about 85 miles and along the way the sights speak for themselves.
Places of interest include Abingdon, Henley, Marlow, Windsor, Eton, Runnymede, Staines and Hampton Court. mix these with a helping of smaller villages and abundance of wildlife you will see why it inspired such as Turner and Constable. Today the river is still very much a working river, as it was for the Saxons with their trading barges, however today its use for leisure gives you a taste of how life should be.
The ’Thames Experience’ is designed to allow you to walk, cruise or
try a bit of both. The Thames Path keeps close to the river bank so you could walk for
up to 15 miles a day if you wish, or just stroll between the locks, the boat will never be too far away and we
usually meet at the locks so no need to carry a pack. Alternatively, you may
prefer to spend your days sunbathing on top of the boat or simply watching the
world go by with a good book or glass of wine.
Accommodation is aboard a narrow boat sleeping 10 in modern comfort, flush toilets and showers and of course a fridge for keeping the wine and beer cool.
The price Includes breakfast (tea in bed by special arrangement) a buffet
style lunch, snacks and non alcoholic drinks for the daytime. Evening meals are extra and the boat will moor close
to a river hostelry or town overnight, one night we will have a barbecue on the bank
around the Henley area.
Oxford and Hampton Court are both served with good rail links, so why not join us for this experience of life on the river the artery of England.
