| This is a classic National Trail full of beautiful Cotswold scenery from rolling farmland through delightful villages, views over the Severn estuary and quiet beech woods. Starting in the historic Bath we climb to reach the escarpment with a map like view of the start, following the high ground through Cold Ashton and Dyrham deer park to Dursley, on again to the painted lady of the Cotswold's, Painswick, ever northwards to the racehorse training ground of Cleeve Common gallops, passing Belas Knap long barrow we drop down to Winchcombe the home of Sudeley Castle, we then climbe from Broadway to the tower to finish the walk at the front of St James,s Church. All along the way the history of past ages is abundant with inspiring names such as Cam Long Down and Hetty Peglers Tump, little wonder this is one of the countries best loved national trails. | ||||||||||||
