This walking week will take us through the Scottish border country on a circular route, taking in the 12th century abbeys of Melrose built in 1136, Kelso built in 1128, Dryburgh built in 1150 and Jedbburgh built in 1154, these were the main Cistercian and Augustinian Abbeys that survived after the short lived Tironian Selkirk Abbey built in 1113.  We follow paths, tracks and the river Tweed to pass Abbotsford, the ancestral home of Sir Walter Scott, then onto open country and forest to join the river Teviot, we will also pass the horse cave where it is said that Bonnie Prince Charlie hid his horse from the English in 1745.  This area abounds with history and has connections to literature, science and art, this corner of Scotland has stunning scenery at every turn, and a welcome to match, not to mention the food
