LLYN PENINSULA COAST  LCPC 70 MILES       B+
This is coastal walking at it's very best on this finger of Wales pointing towards Ireland, being on the edge of the Gulf Stream it offers a mild climate and abundance of sea birds. The north is open to Caernarfon Bay and the south to Tremadog Bay and are separated by only 8 miles. We start on the north around Aberdesach and follow the rugged section of coast with hidden coves, cliff top scenery and small fishing villages and is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, we pass many hill forts, ancient monuments and churches relating to the Iron Age and legends of Saint Beuno, including the fort at Porth Dinillaen perched on a rocky outcrop with superb views. Part of the route follows the Pilgrim Way so we tread in the footsteps of the pilgrims to Bardsey Island nestling just off the point. After the point we the coast changes to softer sandier beaches the first being the large Hell's Mouth, we now start to pass the holiday resorts with more walking on beaches, and more ice creams, the final section passes the museum and grave of David Lloyd George before ending our walk at Criccieth Castle.
